Los compases compuestos se introducen en este nivel junto con los tresillos y el ritmo de swing. Los estudiantes aprenden a reconocer el intervalo de 7.a y exploran su uso tanto en un contexto de armonia tradicional como en estilo jazz. The Level 5 Lesson and Theory Book explores the major and minor scales in depth. Ledger lines extend the reading range. The different rhythmic patterns of sixteenth notes prepare students for intermediate piano repertoire. Compound time signatures are introduced at this level, along with triplets and swing rhythm. Students learn to recognize the interval of a 7th and explore its use both in the context of traditional harmony and jazz styles.
